Network length, gauge and electrification (2014):
- 1826km broad gauge(1520mm), 257km electrified at 3000V=

The infrastructure department of LDZ manages the Lithuanian national
railway network. It uses locomotives and maintenance trains operated
by the freight division of LDZ for track maintenance. Train path
allocation and charging is done by subsidiary LatRailNet AS.

- broad gauge(1520mm), electrified at 3000V=
Since 2003 LDz only operates freight trains. It owns all diesel
locomotives. Passenger trains are operated by subsidiary "Passazhieru
Vilciens", which owns all EMUs and DMUs and became independent of LDz
in 2008. International trains are
operated by private company "L-Ekspressis" which owns the coaches for
these trains and uses TEP70 locomotives of LDz.
In 2013, LDz Cargo transported 55.8 million tonnes of freight, 7.9%
less than in record year 2012 (60.6 million tonnes).
By 2030 over 500km of railways (the main freight lines) will be
electrified at 25kV 50Hz while the currently electrified lines around
Riga will be changed from 3000V= to 25kV 50Hz.

Network length, gauge and electrification (2005):
A/S Baltijas Ekspresis was founded in December 1999. It operates
international freight trains from the port of Ventspils to the border
with Russia, and performs shunting duties in the port area of
Ventspils. Some shunters were taken over from A/S Ventspils
Tirdzniecibas Osta (VTO). In 2012 3 million tonnes of freight were
transported.

BTS - A/S Baltijas Tranzita Serviss
Network length, gauge and electrification (2005):
BTS is a subsidiary of the large Russian private operator
BaltTransServis, and was founded in September 2001. It operates
international freight trains from the ports of Latvia to the Russian
border. In 2012 11.8 million tonnes of freight were transported.

Network length, gauge and electrification (2008):
Since 2008 PV operates all domestic passenger trains in Latvia
independent from LDz. Since 2003 PV was a subsidiary of LDz. The
EMU/DMU depot is
run by "VRC Zasulauks". In 2023, with the introduction of new Skoda
EMUs, the brand name Vivi was introduced for passenger services in
Latvia.
