In this page, we intend to advertise the "specials" (i.e. the "special" trains...) which are organized on the HSB network during 1996, primarily those which are open to the public (private trips will probably not be listed here...).
You will find them all below, but maybe you want to know more about what a "special" is ?

Well, basically, HSB run daily trains, just like any railway company, although most of them are steam powered, i.e. are already interesting and attractive in themselves (some others, e.g. early in the morning, are railbuses...); just look at the HSB timetable.
But, as an addition, HSB also run other trains which do NOT belong to these daily, regularly scheduled trains: let's call them "specials".
They may...
- be organized at special dates (Walpurgis - 30th april, Christmas, etc...),
- or be run a number of times per year (by the way... the HSB timetable does mention a number of such "regularly scheduled specials"...),
They may be run on any part, of the whole HSB network, i.e. on...
And they usually make use of special motive power and special passenger rolling stock.

Yes, on this page, we do intend to offer information about all the "specials" on the HSB in 1996...
As an addition to the regular trains, the HSB organize many "specials" which must be classified in 2 categories:
- some of them are run on a regular basis, i.e. several times per year, and they are mentionned in the official HSB timetable,
- others are run on an occasional basis, e.g. for a particular event, a city fair, etc... typically "once a year"; they are NOT mentionned in the official timetable.
>They belong to "3 + 1" main / standard categories: 3 of them are steam operated specials, i.e. "Brockenoldi", "Oldi", and "Oben Ohne" (also called "Cabrio auf Schienen"), the 4th one is a small railbus... "GHE T1"
