****At the first time (from 1948 - 1957 JŽ used FS numbering system. After 1957 number E 61 was used, and after 4th may 1962 when JŽ decided to use two electrification systems on the network; they want to denotate difference between 3000V= and 25kV 50Hz on locomotive number. After that number 3 is for 3000V= and 4 for 25kV 50 Hz. In the old class number E means Električna lokomotiva (electric locomotive). For details see numbering section.
