PLM 1423, a "Bourbonnais" type locomotive built 1854 by Cail (later PLM 3A1,
then SNCF 030 A 1). More than 1050 units were built until 1880. Equipped
with Crampton firebox and interior Stephenson distribution, they could pull
a train of 850 t with 25 km/h or a train of 450 t with 45 km/h, so they were
mostly used for freight and slow passenger trains. Some units, rebuilt to
tank locomotives, survived until the 1960s (SNCF 030 TB, or 030 A for
locomotives with separate tender). Weight 39.61 t, length incl. tender 39.61 t,
wheel diameter 1.30 m.
