Campione Casino Municipale
If you look to the northeast, just east of Melide, you can see into the Campione special administrative region of Italy. Campione has a customs union with Switzerland and is one of the few parts of Italy not a member of the European Union. As such there are no passport checks going in or out (since August 2004 the situation may have changed). Those wishing to enter Campione from Switzerland with public transit, are recommended to board a bus at the Melide FFS station, and pay a fare of CHF 4,00 (valid in 2004) per direction. The Casino Municipale, seen in this photo, is the most recognizable building in Campione, facing Lago di Lugano. Taken 4 August 2004 © 2004, 2006 Josh Hanz (josh_hanz@hotmail.com) |

It is told that SBB will service (traveling and stop) every milk churn along its ways. This is unbelievable for native of the DBAG-country. But after discovering this SBB-vehicle it seems it could be really true. SBB class "Asphaltblase" with "road-no." SO-80275 in Olten on 19th of April 2004.

Canton of Sankt Gallen, towards Sargans
Somewhere along the line from Zürich to Chur via Ziegelbrücke (transfer to Glarus / Linthal). At Sargans, to get to Vaduz in Liechtenstein, one has to buy a separate ticket for the postal bus, or take a train to Buchs and then a local train to Schaan, though the former may be more convenient. Canton of Uri, April 2001, north of Göschenen

Destination boards in Zürich in Switzerland 19 september 1995.
In Denmark such boards are normally made of fibre-plastic material.
In Germany they are of tin-plate metal (iron), but in Switzerland
they are made of Aluminium.
