Reisseck funicular, overview from Kolbnitz. This is a three-section funicular, not only for passengers but also for maintenance of a hydroelectric reservoir system. You can see the water tubes to the power plant in front of the Picture. The lower section goes from 719 to 1286 m altitude, the middle section from 1286 to 1769 m and the upper section (not visible from here) from 1769 to 2237 m, where it connects to a narrow gauge railway system.

Reisseck funicular, lower section. The car has just arrived at the lower station Kolbnitz, which is near the Kolbnitz station of the Tauern railway. On the right you can see a freight car.

Reisseck funicular, car No. 2 of the middle section at Schütter (exchange point to lower section). You can see the rugged stainless steel interiors and also that the car has a "hinge" in the middle, allowing it to follow the contour of the mountain better.

Reisseck funicular, exchange station "Trog" between the middle and upper section (at 1769 m above sea level). The modern white/yellow car "1" has just arrived from Schütter (1286 m), the upper section still has the old red car "3" which will go to Schoberboden (2237 m). People are changing into both directions. In background you can see the track connection between both sections.
