- 251km standard gauge, 224km electrified at 25kV 50Hz
ZiCG operates and maintains the
Montenegran rail infrastructure. ZiCG does not operate its own
locomotives or track maintenance trains. The main line
runs from Vrbnica (border with Serbia) to Bar, with branch lines from
Podgorica to Niksic and the border with Albania. The branch line to
Albania
never had any passenger trains. Podgorica-Niksic was modernised and
electrified in 2012.

ZPCG runs passenger trains on (Beograd-)Vrbnica-Podgorica-Bar and
Podgorica-Niksic. In 2012 the locomotives were divided between
passenger operator ZPCG
(unitl then then ZCG) and
freight operator Montecargo. Modern electric trainsets from CAF are
mainly used on Podgorica-Niksic.

Montecargo operates freight trains in Montenegro. In 2017 there was an
attempt to sell 51% of the company to OT Logistics
from Poland, but in 2020 about 88% of the company is still in the hands
of the state.
