| deutsch |  The Selketalbahn runs through a
rural area, the environment of which is
very attractive while staying away from
excesses of all sorts...:- 300 to 500m above sea level (but the continental climate allows seasons to be well differenciated, with hot and sunny during summer, cold and snowy during winter..., - valleys, forests, meadows, lakes, villages... The whole environment is rich of
a 1000-years-old history:- middle ages, roman castles, - early mining industries, - sources and baths, etc...; ...everything is prone to receiving visitors, while being durably away from the agitation caused by heavy tourim development. Additionally, the fact that the
area now is towards the top for the
unemployment rate in Germany
contributes to the value of the
Selketalbahn as a tourism attraction... | Le Selketalbahn traverse une
région dont l'environnement naturel est
très attractif sans excès d'aucune sorte: - vers 300 à 500m d'altitude le climat continental permet d'avoir des saisons bien marquées, avec de la chaleur et du soleil en été et du froid et de la neige en hiver..., - vallées, forèts, prairies, lacs, villages... Tout l'environnement est chargé
d'une histoire millénaire:- moyen age, architecture romane, - débuts de l'industrie, - développement des sources et bains, etc...; ...tout est propice à l'accueil de nombreux touristes tout en restant sans doute durablement à l'abri des batailles économiques causés par les enjeux du développement du tourism lourd. Le fait que la région se situe
actuellement vers les sommets quant au
taux de chomage allemand joue en
faveur du Selketalbahn comme
attraction touristique... |

the Harzer Schmalspurbahnen i.e.
the Narrow Gauges Railways of the
Harz, the "main line" of which,
Wernigerode - Brocken should be
succesfull and economically sound on
the long term. But, specifically, the railroad
environment of the Selketalbahn closely
represents what a continental european
"minor railway" was 50 years ago: it is
one of the last such places in
continental Europa, and it does it much
better than most so-called "museum"
sites...! | Le Selketalbahn fait partie des HSB,
Harzer Schmalspurbahnen les
"Chemins de Fer à Voie-Etroite du
Harz" ... dont la "ligne principale",
Wernigerode - Brocken, devrait
connaître le succés et la stabilité

| Within the HSB frame, as an
addition to the fleet of "standard"
vehicles, one of the best european
collection of historical vehicles from
minor railways is available for the
Selketalbahn too: steam locomotives,
railbuses, cars of all sorts, etc..., some
of them now more than 100 years old
(!); all of these can be put into operation
in the privilileged environment of the
Selketalbahn at their best... contributing
to build up a real world-class tourism
and historical attraction with a future... | En plus, est disponible, dans le
