1993 - 1994 - 1995
After many discussions with various workshops, T3, now-187 025, the original NWE railbus was sent to MaLoWa in Benndorf in 1993 for a complete rebuilding.
The rebuilding took about 2 years and it includes:
- complete overhaul of the engine and the generator and the transmission,
- complete overhaul of the carbody, and the inside fittings,
- complete mechanical ovehaul (running gear),
- new air brake instead of the old vacuum brake,
- new automatic boiler for the heating of the trains.
The job done by MaLoWa is said to be absolutely superb...
The railbus has been repainted in original NWE colors, weinrot mit elfenbein Zierstreifen
(i.e. red with creme striping).
Extensive testings have been done from April 1995 on, and the car was said "good for the service" after a last test June 28th 1995.
Initially, it will be operated on the Selketalbahn, but it will also be available for "specials": with its 520hp diesel engine, it has been designed (in 1939) to take 4 standard passenger cars up to the top of the Brocken...
