Istanbul vintage tram at Taksim This is a vintage tram that runs on a mainly single track between Taksim Square and the upper station of the Tünel line, which is on a primarily pedestrian street, with limited vehicular traffic. Fares are paid for with tickets, rather than tokens (which are valid on the Tünel, Modern Tram, Hafif Metro, busses and trans-Bosporos ferry boats). Tickets can be bought at both terminal stations, and at some newsstands. Akbils are also valid. Taken 10th February 2006 by Josh Hanz (email: Josh_Hanz@hotmail.com) |
Istanbul Sirkeci tram station This is a view of the modern tram stop, across the street to Istanbul's Sirkeci TCDD station. This station is on the European side of Istanbul. Most trains continue to Fındıklı but others terminate at the next stop Eminönü near the ferry terminals. Not seen are the token kiosks that sell tokens for about YTL 1,10 apiece. Akbils are also valid and only YTL 1,00 is deducted from the Akbil. The northern exit does not have a dedicated traffic signal, so pedestrians need to be aware of the cross traffic when crossing towards the train station.
