Russian old emu ER-2 (right) staying close to EM-2K which is actually a renewed ER-2. The program of modification and renovation of old emu's (mostly ER-2 and RVR construction ED2T) dates back from 1995. Nowdays new emu's at last started to replace morally old ED2-T not only on express lines such as Moscow-Kaluga or Moscow-Ryazan, but on the local routes.

The first russian bullet train ES250-001 (Sokol) on the last building stages in "Almaz" in 2000. Nowdays it takes the acceptance tests. The ES250 (Sokol) train is the newest russian achievment in locomotive building. In future "Sokol" should replace old ER200 express trains on the route Moscow-Leningrad and maybe on the planned fast routes to Kharkov and Samara. The unit design speed is 350 kmph, but due to the condition of the existing routes, the unit ES250-001 will be deisgned for 250 kmph with an ability to be changed to 350 kmph after reconstruction of the route between Moscow and Leningrad. It was built with a minimum use of foreign-made details.
Techincal data: design speed 250-350 kmph, 675 KWT.
