710-005 dmu-s ready to go to Bor, some 45 km to north-west. You can see production plate on it.
There was a lot of dust in Serbian medias about these dmu-s. They were produced by Fiat, Italy in 1980, and then sold to Swedish railways. Serbian railways lease them in 2004-2005 (10 units) and put them into commercial use, mainly on Nis-Zajecar-Prahovo and Zajecar-Bor-Pozarevac lines. Passenger traffic on these lines was almost DEAD efore these units arrived. Nowdays, 4 units are operating on east-Serbian rail lines (NIs-Zajecar-Prahovo and Zajecar-Bor-Pozarevac) and the effects are very visible: the total number of passengers has increased dramatically (400%!!) since 710 units were put in service. Serbian railways will import more of these uits (which will be refubrished in Zrenjanin) for other critical lines (like lapovo-Kragujevac-Kraljevo-Raska and Stalac-Kraljevo-Pozega).
