This is the some of presentation for Calugareni locomotive, exhibited in Bucuresti Nord. Locomotive 43 Calugareni. The oldest steam locomotive in Romania. Between 1869 and 1919 it hauled passanger, mixt and freight trains between Bucuresti Filaret (now a bus station) and Giurgiu. Between 1920 and 1923 used for light shunting operations. Starting with 10th of June 1938, it was exhibited at the Romanian Railways Museum, untill the summer of 1944, when it was damaged by the american air raids. Between 1951 and 1953 it was repaired by Atelierele CFR Grivita In 1939, 1969 and 1994 the locomotive hauled celebration trains between Bucharest and Giurgiu. Now, the 43 Calugareni Locomotive is a national tehnical trasure, protected by the Romanian state. # andreihara@yahoo.co.uk
