<br><b>Poiana Mare</b> Station
<br>The brench line 913. Golenti - Poiana Mare was closed on Decmeber 12th, 2009. The pictures were taken in that day (unfortunately, we didnt' catch the last train, because we had no connection to Craiova or to other place were we could sleep), with a few hours before the last train arrive here (only one pair of trains runs here). Officially, the line will be preserved, unofficially, it will be stolen piece by piece. The linie was closed and the trains cancelled (at the begining of 2009 there were 6 pairs of trains, and in December only one left) due to the modernisation of Golenti Station (were the branch line starts from line Craiova - Calafat)... so, the station was left with only one track (!), and shunting the DMU from Poiana Mare to the regional "classic" (locomotive and cars) train to Calafat was very difficult: the train to Calafat was taken outside the station, the DMU was taken inside the station and then the classic train was taken to the station again backwards, so the DMU could be attached at its rear end. The owner of the minibuses took advantage of this... a trip from Calafat co Poiana Mare now costs 4 RON for 10 km (15 minutes), while a tript with the train (19 km, 30 minutes) costs 2.7 RON (with a 50% discount for students and pupils, so they paid only 1.35 RON).
