CFR class 71 diesel locomotive rusting in Ramnicu Valcea depot

Class 71 diesel locomotives where designed in 1976, for pulling heawy passenger and freight 
trains. Because they had a high fuel and oil consumption and they where intended for long
journeys, they where little used. Today they are out of service.
71-0001-9 is a 4000 hp diesel locomotive. The 16 cylinders engine was built in Romania, under
ALCO license. The locomtive has an electric transmision and can reach a top speed of 140 km/h.
