CFR Class 67, the passenger version of the class 66, a 3000 HP (v. max: 140 km/h, electric train heating) with a V 12 ALCO motor. The locomotives are currently being scrapped, only a few are left around the country, as a strategic reserve. However, these locomotives hauled speed-trains on the non-electrified lines in the country (especially international trains), but due to relatively high fuel consumption were retired. There war rumors that several international freight operators interested themselves for buying and modernizing some locomotives, in order to be used in international freight trains, as they are considered to be quite suitable (powerful, high fuel autonomy, high speed, possibility of modernization and conversion to electric motive power). However, I have heard nothing since; too bead, these were one of the best locos made by “Electroputere”.
