of the classical Sulzer type, and ac/dc transmission. The 2 prototypes
are now out of service.
Diesel engine: ALCO license, 12 R 251 FLO, 12 cylinders in V.
Power: 2640 hp.
Top speed: 100 km/h.

Locomotive 61-0001-0 at Oradea in August 1992. It had an ALCO R 251 12V engine but due to a poor maintenance and high fuel consumption it was eventually scrapped.

CFR 610001 Locomotive in Oradea station, with more powerful motors as the usual class 60, used on the difficult line Oradea-Huedin-Cluj Napoca. The engine was quite successful, but due to lack of spare parts (as only a few prototypes were built) and excessive use (trains up to 20 cars) it was retired from service. Again, there was no electric heating for the cars. Notice the different ribbed body. Author unknown.
