CCFL 581 passes Assembleia da República at Calçada da Estrela; this steep 11% gradient ends in a severe curve to the right. From 1890 to 1913 this difficult section was part of the Camões-Estrela cable tramway, operated by the Nova Companhia dos Ascensores mechanicos de Lisboa, with Maschinenfabrik Esslingen equipment. 2008
