NSB Di 3a 602. Initially these locomotives operated on the Bergen, Dovre and Nordland lines, replacing steam locomotives. After the electrification of the Bergen and Dovre lines and the delivery of more powerful Di 4 for the Nordland line, Di 3 continued to be used on secondary lines until around 2000 when many of them were sold to other railways. NSB Di 3b 642. Built 1959 by Nohab/GM as 41.02 for VR (1524 mm gauge) but not taken over by VR, so in 1960 this one and two others were rebuilt to 1435 mm gauge and sold to NSB. They have only four traction motors and a higher maximum speed of 143 km/h instead of 105 km/h, so these were used with express passenger trains. Regular service lasted until 2000. NSB Di 3b 642. The locomotive is preserved in its red paint applied since the 1980s. The front windows were replaced (previously they had to be protected by grilles to prevent damage by falling rocks or icicles on bridges and tunnels), and new bright headlights were installed. Diesel locomotive (600 mm gauge) Jung type EL.105, built 1935
(factory No. 5952) and delivered to Freund & Pels construction
company, Hamburg. One of around 200 used to build the Nordland line
and the never completed Polar Railway project. The Adolph Block
company used it on part of the Nordland railway. It went to NSB in
1946 and was used until 1951 in a peat factory (in the era peat was
used for insulation purposes in trackwork). It was then sold and
remotorized with a new engine from Kraft/Grefsen. The last
industrial user was Namdal Torvindustri, the museum bought the
locomotive in 2004 and shows it together with wagons borrowed from
Lommedalsbanen Industrial Railway Museum.
