Corridor of a NSB sleeper ('sove') car on the night train from Bergen to Oslo, with folding benches.
The unusual cross section of these cars is supposed to make the most of the available clearance along the different lines. And it actually works: beds are longer that in lots of other sleepers and there is even space for these seats on the corridor.

View from the corridor of a NSB sleeper ('sove') cabin on the night train from Bergen to Oslo.
It looks slightly cramped, bud the beds are actually quite comfortable, and wide and long enough.
Beds are set on the night-time position from departure, but there is enough distance between them to sit down for a while on the lower one.

View from a cabin of a NSB sleeper ('sove') to the door to the corridor.
Safety guidelines are provided on the door and the usual light settings are found by each bed.
The hotel-style key to get to your room has to be obtained at the café car, where check-in is done with your ticket.
Pillows were nice and fluffy.

Detail of the auxiliar area of a cabin of a NSB sleeper ('sove').
Bottles of water and earplugs are provided. There's a washbasin and with soap and hot and cold water, and the water pressure is pretty good.
The top bit of the window can be opened, which is nice to get fresh air or make the space less hermetic.

In the cabin there's also a leaflet with information about hotels close to the different end stations that provide breakfast and shower facilities to NSB Sove customers showing their ticket (and paying a small fee), and a couple of chocolates.
Notice on the left side how the lower bed goes under the counter to provide the maximun of leght.

From 1957 to 1965, a total of 48 universal sleeping-cars

among with a variety of interior changes. Regular service

NSB sleeping-cars WLAB in Bergen, 2005-08-11. Night train 606 to Oslo. In background you can see the new type WLAB-2, which was built in the 1980s, but the old (1950s/60s) types were not completely replaced at that time and as the long-term future of Norwegian night trains is repeatedly under discussion, they are not replaced today. |
