ProRail - The Netherlands "Main Building 3" (HGB III) was built in 1918-1921 for the Dutch Railways, in Amsterdam School style. Is is nicknamed "The Ink Pot" (De Inktpot) because of the shape of its tower. It is the largest brick building in The Netherlands (in the picture you can only partly see one of the 4 wings)! De Inktpot is now the headquarter of ProRail, the Dutch railway infrastructure manager. Note the UFO which is not used by the members of the board, but was left after an art exhibition and bought from the artist by a ProRail manager. The church tower on the left is actually the highest church tower in The Netherlands (The "Dom"). Utrecht, July 2005 Digital photo by Marco van Uden |
ProRail - The Netherlands Interior of "The Ink Pot", the headquarter of ProRail. Glazed brick in the walls and oak wood on the ceiling: this is a beautiful office building! Sometimes a lost bat can be found flying through the building, a large colony of bats is living in the main tower! Utrecht, July 2005 Digital photo by Marco van Uden |
ProRail - The Netherlands The wings of "De Inktpot" have 5 floors, numbered 0-4. The small towers in the middle of each wing have 6 floors, the main tower has an additional 4 floors with offices. Here you see the beautiful indication that you are on the 4th floor. Utrecht, July 2005 Digital photo by Marco van Uden |
