NS CityPendel EMU 2012 has just arrived on track 1 of Zandvoort station.

During the winter, a single CityPendel is sufficent for the shuttle service Haarlem-Overveen-Zandvoort. The EMU runs every 30 minutes from either terminal, a run taking 10 minutes. So, there is 5 minutes for the passengers to get in and out, and for the driver to walk to the other cab.

The railway line is two-track for its entire length, but this capacity is needed only in the summer.

The red railings in the foreground belong to the side stairs from the platform bypassing the station building. Note the square sign in front of the cab, it indicates "Stop here!", the bumper-block only a few metres away.
