In the dramatic autumn of 2002, cracks were discovered in the bogies of many Sprinters, which lead to a shortage of Sprinters available for train services. Consequently, Mat '64 (and sometimes DD-AR) was used in some trains in train series which were usually run by Sprinters, like the 4800 series (Amsterdam Centraal - Uitgeest).
