Amsterdam Sloterdijk viert op 31 mei 1987 haar eerste verjaardag. "De Vitrine" is dan het meest moderne station van Nederland. Haar Feestje wordt opgevrolijkt door een oudgediende. De Hondekop die in haar nadagen Intercity Amsterdam-Vlissingen rijdt.Haar opvolger (de koploper) is al in grote getallen ingestroomd. (verwachte) nieuwwe reizigersstromen zoals de OV studentenkaart rekken haar leven. Ruimschoots genoeg om het nieuwe Sloterdijk te begroeten. In perspectief was het slechts een oogwenk.
