This picture shows a detail of the ICM-0 prototype series (4001-4007) of the 'Koplopers'. This knob covered a hole in the front doors which provided space for the opening mechanism of these doors. It is said that the team of technicians responsible for this series saw similarities with certain female body parts, and decided to put the names of their wives on them. This was done unofficially. All 7 trainsets of this prototype carried a name, with 4001 to 4007 most likely named Hannie, Hein, Dikkie, Loes, Nel, Arnolda and Mien, respectively. The picture shows 4006 'Arnolda', coupled to another ICM-0 in Arnhem in service from Nijmegen to Amsterdam, 9 April 1985. With the technical improvements made later, knobs and names were eventually removed. (c) Rob Reinders (r.reinders5@chello.nl)
