Amsterdam Centraal station, The Netherlands, March 2000. Two of the newer EMU classes of NS can be seen here: the IRM (left) and the mDDM (right). IRMs are double-deck trains for long-distance trains, while the double-deck mDDM are used for regional trains on lines with many passengers. The mDDM motor cars (one seen here) are unusual: seating is only on the upper level, the electrical equipment is installed below. The units have six powered axles placed in three (!) bogies.
