NS 1501, disguised as BR 27003 at Venlo on 24 October 1998. In 1970, NS -in search for traction power- bought seven locos from British Rail, where they had become surplus after the closure of the Woodhead-route, that was becoming a 1.500 V= island in a 25 kV, 50Hz network. The Dutch used one loco for spare parts and pressed the others as 1501-1506 into service. Until 1986 the took the brunt and the honour of the ICs Den Haag<->Venlo. Stichting KLOK rescued 1501/27003.
