Travelling over the Cape Midland line from Oudtshoorn toward Willowmore, Class 19D 4-8-2 No.3324 (NBL 26044.1948) negotiates the cliff-side track along the Olifants Rivier gorge at Barandas, on 14th July 1999. SA_-_Bailden_Falls Steam in Southern Africa 1973 - 1999. Hauling a mixed train, Class 24, 2-8-4 No.3688 (NBL 26500.1949) crosses the Umzintlava River near Bailden Waterfalls, on 7th July 1999. The location is on the 25.6 mile (41km) branch line between Franklin to Kokstad, in Natal Province and during its sinuous return journey from Kokstad, the locomotive will lift its train through a climb of 784 feet (239m).
