90 80 2248 500-1 D-SIEAG. In 2022 Deutsche Bahn Fernverkehr ordered 21 Vectron Dual Mode for trains going on non-electrified sections, in particular to Westerland/Sylt and Oberstdorf. They can also be used in case of blackouts on the electrified network. With a power of 2000 kW at the wheel they reach a speed of 160 km/h. The engine is a mtu 16V 4000 R84. The locomotive seen here has been built 2022 as 90 80 248 020-0 D-SIEAG and originally had a large "Vectron Dual Mode" inscription, in 2023 it was rebuilt with train power supply and in 2024 the red stripe was applied.
