Originally, the D.345 class was built with distinctive wrap-around, curved front windscreens, which were entirely replaced by flat glass panes in the early 1980s for crew safety. To restore its authentic aesthetic, Fondazione FS Italiane initiated a special engineering project specifically on unit 1058 to structurally retrofit it back to its original curved windscreen appearance.
