Passenger loco DF4D 3221 had just detached from train N397/398/351/352.
The DF4D passenger locos with serial number beginning with 3, i.e. 3xxx, are also known as DF4DK, they are quasi-high speed diesels with a maximum speed of 170 km/h. Notice the slight difference in design from conventional passenger DF4D.

This section of eastern Longhai railway line has gone through major electrification process and some alternation of the line, to accommodate the 6th national speed acceleration, but there are spots still under final completion, and electric locos are yet to run on the line.

Diesel locomotives DF11 0173 and DF4D 3283 in Shanghai central station, 2009-07-22. The DF11 was built since 1992 by Qishuyan, top speed 170 km/h, power 3040 kW. The DF4D of the 3000-series can reach a speed of 170 km/h with a power of 2980 kW, locomotives of this type have been built in Dalian since 1999. |
