Soviet diesel locomotive "TEP70" (Kolomna, 1988), factory number 0106
(designed for a speed of 160-170 km/h) with the Spanish train
"Talgo 200" is entering Alma-Ata 2 railway station, Kazakhstan,
August 10, 2003. In spite of the fact that all the way from Alma-Ata
up to Astana is electrified with 25 kV 50 Hz, the Talgos go with
these diesel locomotives. But a contract for electric locomotives
designed for speeds of more of 200 km/h constructed in China under
the license of firm "Siemens" (1520 mm gauge) is already signed,
these locomotives are expected to arrive soon.
