Tram di Opicina - Italy
Recently the very special tram Trieste - Villa Opicina (partly funicular) reopened after a long period without trams due to an accident. Tram 402 is seen at the current end stop in Trieste.

Note the protection switch, set to an uphill stub track if no pusher car is in the station to prevent any rolling stock from rolling down the steep slope. The tram will approach the pusher car No. 2 under electric power and then be braked downhill by No. 2. 2025-09-09.

Trieste - Tranvia di Opicina - 401

Triebwagen 401, aufgenommen am 23. August 1982. Im steilen Abschnitt wird mit Seilbahntechnik gearbeitet. Der Standseilbahnwagen schiebt den Straßenbahntriebwagen bergauf. Dieser fährt dann allein weiter. Der nächste Straßenbahntriebwagen kommt und wird dann vom Standseilbahnwagen talwärts gebremst.
