06/05/2023: Open day at Pistoia DORS (Deposito Officina Rotabili Storici - Depot and repair shop for Historical rolling stocks), managed by "Fondazione FS".
Fondazione FS Italiane looks after and manages the Italian State Railways’ vast historic heritage: it oversees a fleet of over 400 pieces of historic rolling stock, around 200 of which are in full working order.
It also oversees the archives and libraries, both the Pietrarsa and the Trieste Campo Marzio Museums as well as some dedicated Depots (like Pistoia DORS).
Steam Locomotive 640-003, from a Class of 1'C (2-6-0 Mogul) train locomotives known as "Signorine" (Young Ladies), a nicknamed shared with similar class 625 machines.
Class 625 were teh first Calsss of superheated steam locomotives in Italy.
640-003 was hauling the special touristic train operated during the open day between Pistoia and Montecatini Terme.
