Nuova stazione di Sanremo. La stazione, posta sul nuovo tracciato che sostituisce
il tratto tra Ospedaletti e S.Lorenzo al Mare, è costruita interamente in galleria.

The old station of SAN REMO on the line Genova Piazza Principe -
Ventimiglia on the Riviera Ligure/Riviera di Ponente in
Italy (Riviera dei Fiori - Flower Riviera). This beautiful station
under palm-trees and in oleander flowers directly on the seashore
was closed on September 24, 2001. The new train stop is in the
underground, very far away from the saeshore. I hate it!

The new underground train stop of SAN REMO on the line Genova Piazza Principe -
Ventimiglia on the Riviera Ligure/Riviera di Ponente in
Italy (Riviera dei Fiori - Flower Riviera). This underground stop replaced
the beautiful station under palm-trees and in oleander flowers directly on
the seashore that was closed on September 24, 2001. It may take up to 20 min
(depending of your age!) to leave the undrground and reach the daylight.
This stop is very far away from the seashore and the port. I hate it!
The feeling on it is like in a grave! I want my beautiful station on the
seashore back! While passing the new long tunnel between Bordighera and
San Lorenzo I can not stop my tears;I always cry for the beautiful closed
seashore line!
I met nobody in Italy and in the world who likes this awful uderground stop and the new tunnel line. People who like them are the people who never get on the train! They can never be my friends! Foto: Slobodan Ilic, July 2002 (slobodan.ilic@bluewin.ch)

The old station of SAN REMO, closed on 21.09.2001. Ten months ago it was
a beautiful station under palm-trees and in oleander flowers; now it looks
like a desert.

The entrance of the new station of SAN REMO. You must pass a very long underground
tunnel to reach the tracks.

The exit of the new station of SAN REMO in direction town. You must pass this
very long underground tunnel to reach the daylight; it might take at least 20
minutes. There is no station of the world that I hate so much like this one.
I decided not to arrive in San Remo by train any more. It is more interesting
to arrive by train to Bordighera and to take a trolleybus. The trolleybus runs
very slowly, but you can enjoy a spectacular seaside view while travelling - as
you did until 21.09.2001 travelling by train. On that date the spectacular seashore
railway between Bordighera and Imperia Porto Maurizio was closed and replaced
by an awful double track tunnel railway.
