FS station Como S. Giovanni, view to Chiasso 6.5.2007 Martin P. |
Inside a 668 FS DMU at Como San Giovanni station
Inside a DMU 668 at Como San Giovanni. I am taking this train northwards from Como to Chiasso through a tunnel. At Chiasso, there is a passport check to get to the other tracks on the Swiss side. Most 668 DMUs have only second class seating. Taken 15 September 2000. © 2000, 2006 Josh Hanz (josh_hanz@hotmail.com) |
Como San Giovanni station
Como San Giovanni is the furthest-most (if you don't count Chiasso) station on the Milano-Chiasso-Lugano line, still in Italy. Here you can see a 668 DMU diesel train number 1017 which will go to Milano Greco Pirelli via Monza and Sesto San Giovanni (transfer to the Milan metro M1). Train number 1017 looks refurbished, not like the first generation 668 DMU's. These are the main tracks, as seen from the bus station which is a little bit south of the train station. The RhB meter gauge tracks are east of the station. Taken 15 September 2000. (C) 2000, 2006 Josh Hanz (josh_hanz@hotmail.com) |
