ARST-FdS - Italy (Sardinia) The "Trenino Verde" trip Mandas-Sorgono-Mandas takes a whole day, but the scenery is fantastic. With some planning, it can be done one-way only. We did Macomer-Nuoro by regular FdS train, Nuoro-Sorgono by bus and Sorgono-Mandas by Trenino Verde tourist train. Sorgono, 06-08-2013 Digital photo by Marco van Uden |
ARST-FdS - Italy (Sardinia) Diesel-electric motor car ADe 10 plus an unidentified second cross at Dolianova. During the summer holidays only 2 trains a day continue beyond Dolionova to Mandas and Isili, the other runs are operated by bus. Dolianova, 08-08-2013 Digital photo by Marco van Uden |
ARST-FdS - Italy (Sardinia) Diesel-electric motor car ADe 10 arrives at Gottardo from where it will operate the narrow gauge train to Mandas. In the past there was a direct FdS narrow gauge train service from Mandas to downtown Cagliari, during the summer it is now most of the time a bus Mandas-Dolianova, train Dolianova-Gottardo, tram Gottardo-Repubblica and trolleybus Repubblica-City center (Trenitalia, bus and ferry station). ARST-FdS - Italy (Sardinia) Short stop at the station of Laconi, between Sorgono and Mandas, with diesel motor car ADe 10. Until the 1990s regular trains ran from Mandas up to Laconi, with only one optional daily train between Laconi and Sorgono. Now there is only one weekly "Trenino Verde" tourist train, on summer tuesdays between Mandas and Sorgono. Laconi, 06-08-2013 Digital photo by Marco van Uden |
ARST-FdS - Italy (Sardinia) Also on the hilly lines in the inland of Sardinia, diesel motor cars need water. Luckily the infrastructure for steam locomotives is mainly in good condition. ADe 10 is seen at Meana Sardo, on the line between Sorgono and Isili/Mandas. Meana Sardo, 06-08-2013 Digital photo by Marco van Uden |

ARST-FdS - Italy (Sardinia) Twice a week the "Trenino Verde" tourist trains run from Macomer in the inland to Bosa Marina at the coast. On wednesday there is a special service, a hauled train with wooden coaches, only in the Bosa-Macomer direction. Diesel motor car ADe 11 has arrived at Bosa Marina. The remaining track to Bosa was destroyed by floodings and is now closed. Bosa Marina, 05-08-2013 Digital photo by Marco van Uden |
