The "Trenino Verde" trip Mandas-Sorgono-Mandas takes a whole day, but the scenery is fantastic. With some planning, it can be done one-way only. We did Macomer-Nuoro by regular FdS train, Nuoro-Sorgono by bus and Sorgono-Mandas by Trenino Verde tourist train.

Diesel-electric motor car ADe 10 arrives at Gottardo from where it will operate the narrow gauge train to Mandas.
In the past there was a direct FdS narrow gauge train service from Mandas to downtown Cagliari, during the summer it is now most of the time a bus Mandas-Dolianova, train Dolianova-Gottardo, tram Gottardo-Repubblica and trolleybus Repubblica-City center (Trenitalia, bus and ferry station).

Short stop at the station of Laconi, between Sorgono and Mandas, with diesel motor car ADe 10. Until the 1990s regular trains ran from Mandas up to Laconi, with only one optional daily train between Laconi and Sorgono. Now there is only one weekly "Trenino Verde" tourist train, on summer tuesdays between Mandas and Sorgono.

Also on the hilly lines in the inland of Sardinia, diesel motor cars need water. Luckily the infrastructure for steam locomotives is mainly in good condition. ADe 10 is seen at Meana Sardo, on the line between Sorgono and Isili/Mandas.
