Fondazione FS Italiane - Italy Italian National Railway Museum at Pietrarsa. Only 18 locomotives of class 480 were built for the Brenner railway line by Officine Meccaniche (Milano) in 1923. This line was electrified at 650V DC with 3rd rail. In 1948 it was converted to the now common 3000V DC overhead electrification and renumbered into E623.106. Ansaldo built 14 locomotives in 1958-1961. FS concentrated on diesel-electric locomotives and the last class D342 was withdrawn in the early 1980s. Locomotive D342.4011 is on display at the museum.
