M1 Tunnel from Loreto to Pasteur
The M1 tunnel from Loreto to Pasteur, as seen from the Loreto station. Note, the overhead lighting in the tunnel is possible because of a lack of an overhead wire. This is common for stations from Sesto San Giovanni to Lotto-Fiera 2, but not from Lotto to Rho Fiera which has side-lighting like on the other lines. Milan M1 interiorM1 train in MilanThis is the inside of a M1 train, as seen between Sesto San Giovanni (FS) and Sesto Rondň. The M1 and M2 trains are practically identical, except that the M1 uses third rail for its passenger service but can use overhead wires for shunting as necessary. There is still the occasional braking compressor noise in this series, and it can get quite hot even in a tunnel. Copyright 2004 by Josh Hanz (josh_hanz@hotmail.com) |
