19/03/2023: Open day at La Spezia Migliarina DORS (Deposito Officina Rotabili Storici - Depot and repair shop for Historical rolling stocks), managed by Fondazione FS.
Fondazione FS Italiane looks after and manages the Italian State Railways vast historic heritage: it oversees a fleet of over 400 pieces of historic rolling stock, around 200 of which are in full working order.
It also oversees the archives and libraries, both the Pietrarsa and the Trieste Campo Marzio Museums as well as some dedicated Depots (like La Spezia Migliarina DORS).
La Spezia Migliarina DORS is mainly devoted to Electric Locomotives.
FS (Ferrovie dello Stato - Italian State Railways, now Trenitalia) Electric loco E.428-226.
The Class E.428 was introduced during the '30so of the last century, the first powerful DC 3Kv Electric loco for "high speed" trains. The last were retired in 1991 only.
The Class was built in 3 series with different profiles of the frontal cabins.
This machine belongs to the last "aerodinamic" serie and it has been the only one to be modified during the last years of services to operate "push-pull services" with a modified square lateral driving cab windows.

FS E428 226, built by Ansaldo in 1941, stored in Bologna S. Donato engine terminal in April 1992, still in the light grey-orange-purple livery worn at that time by shuttle trains stock.
