<br>Trenitalia is changing the gear ratio of all the units of class E656 assigned to the Cargo division from 28/61 to 23/66, with increased tractive effort and top speed reduced from 150 to 120 kph, in order to suit better for heavy freight service the features of these engines. The so-modified units are reclassified in the new class E655 (with the same progressive number).
