Frecciabianca 9714 Venezia SL - Milano C. Power car 91 83 2414 127-7. These Pininfarina-styled units were the original power of the first series of the ETR 500. As they are DC-only, not capable of using the new AC-electrified high speed line, they have been replaced by new power units (now Frecciarossa) and are now powering Frecciabianca trains (consisting of rebuilt GC and UIC-Z coaches) on classic lines.

The old Eurostar City (ES City) trains consisting of former high-speed motor cars and rebuilt long-distance coaches, have now been repainted in the Frecciabianca livery. Next to the train is an ETR.500 high-speed train.

The competitors in Italy's high speed system side by side at Venezia Santa Lucia station. Left is a Frecciabianca (the current employment of the original DC power cars of the ETR 500, now operating at up to 200 km/h on regular lines); right is an Alstom AGV of ntv (under the brand "italo". Note the additional red LED bar lighted up in the window, this is not part of the end of train signal but indicates the trains are in "parking mode". It will be turned off when they are ready for departure. 2013-10-19.
