06/05/2023: Open day at Pistoia DORS (Deposito Officina Rotabili Storici - Depot and repair shop for Historical rolling stocks), managed by "Fondazione FS".
Fondazione FS Italiane looks after and manages the Italian State Railways’ vast historic heritage: it oversees a fleet of over 400 pieces of historic rolling stock, around 200 of which are in full working order.
It also oversees the archives and libraries, both the Pietrarsa and the Trieste Campo Marzio Museums as well as some dedicated Depots (like Pistoia DORS).
Diesel-Hydraulic loco D.342-4010 stabled at Pistoia DORS.
The FS Class D.342 was an experimental class of Diesel loco built in 1957-1959 to test hydraulic transmission.
FS later choose Diesel Electric configuration for the following Classes of diesel locos.
D.342-4010 of Ansaldo construction is preserved and used to run historical trains.

Fondazione FS Italiane - Italy Italian National Railway Museum at Pietrarsa. Class D342 were the only diesel-hydraulic large diesel locomotives built for FS. Ansaldo built 14 locomotives in 1958-1961. FS concentrated on diesel-electric locomotives and the last class D342 was withdrawn in the early 1980s. Locomotive D342.4011 is on display at the museum.
