06/05/2023: Open day at Pistoia DORS (Deposito Officina Rotabili Storici - Depot and repair shop for Historical rolling stocks), managed by "Fondazione FS".
Fondazione FS Italiane looks after and manages the Italian State Railways’ vast historic heritage: it oversees a fleet of over 400 pieces of historic rolling stock, around 200 of which are in full working order.
It also oversees the archives and libraries, both the Pietrarsa and the Trieste Campo Marzio Museums as well as some dedicated Depots (like Pistoia DORS).
Automotor Aln 556-2331 inside the main building.
Aln 556 was a class of diesel railcar built in 192 examples between 1937 and 1939 as evolution of the previour Class Aln 56.
Two of them are preserved, including Aln 556-2331 that is used for historical trains.
