A replica of the world's first railway locomotive, Richard Trevithick's 0-4-0 'Penydarren' from 1804. This photo was taken on 31/05/2004 at the Rail200 railfest at the National Railway Museum, York - an event named for the bicentenary of this locomotive.

Unfortunately at some time in the early afternoon of Tuesday 1st June 2004 the replica of Richard Trevithick's 1804 'Penydarren' locomotoive had an accident. Although I didn't see it happen, it appears that it broke an axle and a wheel fell off, which you can lying on the ground infront of the loco. This photo is of the recovery operation, where they used a large crane to lift the loco back onto the rails and jack it up on several large pieces of wood.
