BR Standard 5 73096 is on the front of this Steam Dreams 'Cathedrals Express ' run to Norwich which
is seen approaching Broxbourne on Saturday 12th June 2004. Smoke...what smoke...hopefully next time
we will see it in steam!

BR Standard 5 73096 bursts out from under the bridge at Palmers Green North London with
the Cathedrals Express to Lincoln for the Christmas Fair. So grey is the weather
and the immediate suroundings the picture could almost be in black and white. I can recall
seeing steamers here in the 1950's when I waited on this very platform with my Father
to catch a Saturday morning train to the city...who would have believed then that they could
still be seen today the 4th December 2004.

Former British Railways Standard Class 5 4-6-0 73096, is probably Britain's most
reliable and competent performer on mail line services. Seemingly capable of power
outputs somewhat in excess of what might be expected from such a medium-size
locomotive, 73096 here shows customary vigour as she nears the summit of 3 miles
(5kms) of an average 1 in 70 (1.43%) gradient, at Upton Scudamore. 14 July 2004.
