Looking north from the northern end of the nortbound platform at Yatton station in North Somerset. The platforms are not long enough to take more than 5-car trains, hence the stopping marks at the lineside.

Looking north along the railway towards Bristol from the pedestrian footbridge at Yatton station in North Somerset. The bridge in the photo is the modern road bridge that replaced a weak stone bridge about 2 years ago. Although Yatton is a small settlement, the station is an important commuter location to Bristol and because of a large free car park attracts a lot of passengers from the surrounding area. For this reason long intercity trains stop here quite frequently - you can see the x-car stop signs along side the track beyond the station.

Looking south towards Weston-super-Mare from the pedestrial footbridge at Yatton station in North Somerset. Although it only has two platforms now, this was once a junction station for two branch lines. The short branch to clevedon was on the right, and the longer 'Strawberry Line' through the Cheddar valley to Wells used to be where the car park on left currently is. Both lines fell to Beechings axe in the 1960s, amid much local protest. Although some intercity services stop here, many pass through at quite a speed on this straight section of track - note the prominent yellow lines on the platforms that passengers are advised to stand behind to avoid the air turblance the passing trains cause.

A general view of Yatton station in North Somerset looking north from platform 2. It is clear from the fact the footbridge used to be roofed that this station has seen bigger days.

Platform 1 of Yatton station in North Somerset viewed from the footbridge. The large car park exists on teh site of the former goods yard and the start of the 'Strawberry Line' branch through the Cheddar valley to Wells and beyond. The route of the line now exists as a cycle path for much of its length, and this can be seen leaving the far end of the car park.

Platform 2 of Yatton station in North Somerset viewed from platform 1. The design of the canopy at the far (south) end of the station makes it clear that there used to be a platform where the cars are parked now. This used to be the terminus point for the Clevedon branch line.
