Thurso station - the most northerly station on the British rail network. The map on the wall is of Caithness, the northern most county on the British Mainland and in which Thurso is one of the most promient towns.

Thurso station - the most northerly station on the British rail network. I would love to have had a photo of a train arriving here, but alas as there are only three services a day that would have meant a significant wait and my companions don't share my enthusiam for trains.

Thurso station - the most northerly station on the British rail network and the end of the Far North line. I don't know whether this represents any particular 4-4-0 steam locomotive called Caithness or if it is just symbolic of a bygone age and, presumably, bygone grandure for this northern outpost.
