In bygone days the very first sight for many Continental visitors to London
would have been Victoria Station with the familiar London buses outside. These
traditional buses seen here with a Routemaster on the No 38 are to to the disappointment
of many on their way out after over 45 years of service with 2005 likely to be their last
operating main routes. However all is not entirely lost as following considerable protest this most
famous of London icons may yet continue to be seen on a heritage route...far from the answer for many but
better than nothing. One of the replacement bendy-buses can be seen alongside providing one of
those 'new and old' pictures which was taken on the 21st December 2004.

RML 2492 dating from the mid-1960s prepares to leave from outside Victoria Station
at the start of its journey to Clapton Pond on the 21st December 2004. This classic
looking London bus and icon will become harder to find during the coming year but hopefully
will not disappear entirely.
