Here is a view of the ECML throat just outside London King's Cross. The throat is swarming with lineside
infrastucture; and to the left are a couple of Class 91 GNER locomotives along with an EWS locomotive
(Class 66?). The nearest GNER loco is named 'The Samartians'. The picture was taken on Sunday 29th August 2004 using a Kodak Easyshare DX6440, and anyone who wishes to use this photo must first seek permission from Edward Sloley via edward.sloley@ntlworld.com |
Same as before, except with a Class 317 (or 313) WAGN EMU approaching London King's Cross. The picture was taken on Sunday 29th August 2004 using a Kodak Easyshare DX6440, and anyone who wishes to use this photo must first seek permission from Edward Sloley via edward.sloley@ntlworld.com |
Yet again a similar view, except with a Class 365 WAGN EMU departing London King's Cross. The picture was taken on Sunday 29th August 2004 using a Kodak Easyshare DX6440, and anyone who wishes to use this photo must first seek permission from Edward Sloley via edward.sloley@ntlworld.com |
Here is another view of London King's Cross. To the left is a taxi entrance of the station (I think). The picture was taken on Sunday 29th August 2004 using a Kodak Easyshare DX6440, and anyone who wishes to use this photo must first seek permission from Edward Sloley via edward.sloley@ntlworld.com |
Here is a head-on view of London King's Cross, with various trains being stationed there. From this
position it was difficult to take a pic without having the security fence in the way, and there is also the
danger of being apprehended by the Met, for reasons concerning events like 9/11. The picture was taken on Sunday 29th August 2004 using a Kodak Easyshare DX6440, and anyone who wishes to use this photo must first seek permission from Edward Sloley via edward.sloley@ntlworld.com |
Station of London-King's Cross Thameslink.
This subsurface station is dedicated to Thameslink services, mostly to/from the South Bank, with a handful of Peak services using the Moorgate Branch.
Under the Thameslink 2000 project, this station is to be closed down and relocated under Midland Road, accross the shed of London-St Pancras, which one can spot in the background. London-King's Cross Thameslink. 24th May 2005.

King's Cross, Friday 7th January 2004
A view of Gasworks Tunnels south portals. The disused eastern bore is on the far right, where rush-hour trains to Moorgate emerged alongside York Road station, prior to diving into York Road curve - memories of Cravens DMUs, and Class 31s hauling high-density, short-underframe, non-corridor coaches. The former diesel stabling and refuelling point was on the left, where the cars and police vans are now parked. Could this be where a proposed new western bore might emerge to serve a rebuilt and expanded suburban station ? Photo by Mark Ziemba, scan by Fuji |
King's Cross, Friday 7th January 2004
A view of the main line station, platforms 1 to 4. A North of London Eurostar set (on hire to GNER, but in original Eurostar livery), an Inter-City 125 set, and an Inter-City 225 set, led by Class 91/1 no. 91109 "The Samaritans", are in evidence, with a Hull Trains Class 170 unit hiding behind the wall. By comparison, following the departure of the 13.05 White Rose service to Leeds, platforms 5 to 8 were completely empty ! Photo by Mark Ziemba, scan by Fuji |
King's Cross, Friday 7th January 2004
A view of the suburban station, platforms 9 to 11, with William Henry Barlow's St Pancras station in the background. The portakabins occupy the site of, amongst other things, the platform that was served by rush-hour trains from Moorgate - memories of Cravens DMUs, and Class 31s hauling high-density, short-underframe, non-corridor coaches. The exit portal of Hotel Curve, now bricked up and almost totally backfilled, is located behind and to the left of the blue cabin, near the station forecourt. Photo by Mark Ziemba, scan by Fuji |

After I was finshed with taking pictures of London St. Pancras, I decided to move on to London King's
Cross. The picture shows a side view of the platforms and also shows that, like its 'neighbour', London
King's Cross is in need of refurbishment in some places. The picture was taken on Sunday 29th August 2004 using a Kodak Easyshare DX6440, and anyone who wishes to use this photo must first seek permission from Edward Sloley via edward.sloley@ntlworld.com |
